Neele Schlette
As a location-based artist, I work with people in specific environments; a neighborhood, street, city, or village. I connect with those who live, work, or move through these places through conversations and small interventions in public space.
Approaching place from a position of not-knowing, my work starts from listening to the experiences and stories of the people I meet. From there, the process develops through exchange and collaboration, and can take different forms: subjective mappings, visual works, collective moments, or collaborative efforts that respond to local concerns.

A recurring question in my work is how we shape our surroundings, and how these surroundings, in turn, shape us.
